# Are my recipes private or can other users see them?

| Quick answer: Everything in your CookBook account is private by default. No one else can view your recipes unless you choose to share them or give someone your login details.

# How your data stays private

* **Account-level security:** Recipes, shopping lists, and notes are stored under your personal login and are not visible to other users.
* **End-to-end sync:** Data moves only between your devices and CookBook’s servers using encrypted connections.
* **No public feed:** CookBook has no feature that automatically publishes or browses other users’ content.

# Ways a recipe might become visible to others

1. **You share it manually**
    * Export a PDF, share a CookBook file, or send a recipe code/QR.
    * Anyone who receives that export can view the recipe.
2. **You share your account credentials**
    * If someone signs in with your email and password or with Apple/Google SSO linked to your account, they’ll see everything in your CookBook.
    * We strongly advise keeping your login private and enabling a strong password.
