# Can I just save a photo as a recipe?

| **Quick answer:** Yes. Snap or upload a picture, give it a title, tap **Save** and fill in the ingredients and instructions whenever you have time.

# How to do it

1. Tap **Add (+)** on the bottom bar.
2. Choose **New blank recipe** (or **Scan recipe image** if you’re taking the photo right now).
3. Type a **title**—that’s the only required field.
4. Tap the **camera / gallery** icon to add your photo(s).
5. Tap **Save**.

You now have a placeholder recipe with an image. Later, open it, tap **Edit**, and add ingredients, steps, tags or nutrition whenever it’s convenient.

# Tip

If the photo shows printed text (cookbook page, magazine, handwritten card), you can use the **Recipe Scanner** later: open the recipe → **Edit** → **Scan from photo** and CookBook will extract the ingredients and instructions automatically.
