# Can I use Apple’s Family Sharing with CookBook?

| **Quick answer:** No. Because CookBook uses in-app subscriptions, Apple’s Family Sharing does **not** extend your plan to other Apple IDs. Each person needs their own CookBook subscription or can use the free tier with 20 recipes.

# Why Family Sharing doesn’t apply

* Apple allows Family Sharing for **one-time purchases** and some apps that opt in, but not for auto-renewing in-app subscriptions like CookBook’s Monthly or Yearly plans.
* Your subscription is tied to your personal Apple ID, which covers iPhone, iPad and the Web App under that single login.

# How to share recipes instead

* Keep separate accounts and exchange individual recipes via **CB files, QR codes, or PDF exports**.
* Or share your login details (not recommended - see [How can I share my whole CookBook?](https://help.cookbookmanager.com/en/article/how-can-i-share-my-whole-cookbook-with-my-partner-or-family-1vynqdy/) for pros and cons).
