# Can I use CookBook without an internet connection?

| **Quick answer:** Yes - on the **iOS and Android apps** you can view any recipe that has already synced to your device. You can’t add or edit recipes, update the meal planner, or use AI/import features until you’re back online. The Web App always requires an internet connection.

### What works offline

* Full recipe view (ingredients, steps, photos, notes).
* Built-in timers, voice guidance, unit conversions.
* Shopping lists that were already cached.

### What doesn’t work offline

* Creating or editing recipes.
* Smart imports, AI features, OCR scans.
* Meal planner edits or Instacart ordering.
* Syncing changes to other devices.

### Tips for guaranteed offline access

1. Open the CookBook mobile app while you’re still online and let it finish syncing.
2. Verify that the recipe thumbnails have loaded; that means the data is cached locally.
3. Switch to airplane mode - your saved recipes stay available.

Remember, [app.cookbookmanager.com](https://app.cookbookmanager.com/) (the Web App) is browser-based and won’t load without Wi-Fi or cellular data.
