Quick answer: CookBook doesn’t have a standalone Windows or macOS installer. Instead, use the full-featured CookBook Web App in any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge). One subscription covers web and mobile.
Use CookBook on a computer
- Open Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, or another up-to-date browser.
- Go to https://app.cookbookmanager.com/.
- Sign in with your existing CookBook login method (email, Apple SSO, Google SSO).
- All mobile features - recipes, shopping lists, recipe scanner, planner, etc. are available on the larger screen.
Tip: We recommend Chrome for the best performance and to enable the CookBook Chrome extension (one-click recipe imports).
Browser says “Unsupported”?
If Chrome or Firefox shows an Unsupported / enable Service Workers message:
- Fix: Turn on Service Workers (Chrome Flags or Firefox about:config) and reload the page.
- Full steps are in Enable Service Workers for CookBook if you need them.
Optional: iPad version on Apple-silicon Macs
You can load the iPad build on an M1/M2 Mac:
- Open Mac App Store → search CookBook → choose iPhone & iPad Apps.
- Click Get and install, then sign in.
We however still recommend using the CookBook Web App at app.cookbookmanager.com instead.
